Overview:
There are signs that China’s economy is gradually recovering from financial crisis, with good economic performance having been achieved in recent two months.
As for corn processing industry, most enterprises’ operating rates have kept increasing. Attributed to the relatively small corn supply, domestic corn price has maintained the uptrend and exceeded USD240/t in August, though Chinese government is selling its purchased 40 million tonnes of corn in Northeast China.
Prices of some corn products like malt syrup, threonine and VB2 have also maintained upswing in August.
Some enterprises have shown good performance. For instance, Northeast Pharmaceutical has witnessed 120% net profit increase in H1 2009. And COFCO has been engaged in starch sugar production by taking over Shanghai Rongshi Biotechnology. Shandong Baolingbao got listed on 19th Aug. to raise fund for further expansion. Some other enterprises also plan to expand production, such as Tianjin Novozymes, Guangxi Danbaoli and Continent Biotech and so on.
Besides, Tongliao CNE, who has ever stopped butanol production since the outbreak of financial crisis, is expanding butanol capacity with firm belief in the bright future of butanol.
China has successfully localized L-Tryptophan production.
Shandong’s malt syrup price has been increasing with the rising prices of corn and sucrose.
Domestic threonine price may continue downtrend in the following months.
Domestic VB2 price has maintained uptrend in late July.
Xylitol price has declined this August owing to increasing operating rate.
COFCO successfully purchased Rongshi Biotechnology at the end of July.
Novozymes is to double its enzyme production capacity in Tianjin.
Baolingbao successfully got listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange on Aug. 19th 2009.
Shandong is going to build fuel ethanol plants to meet its own demand.
Northeast Pharmaceutical achieved net profit of USD45.8 million in H1 2009, up 120% over the same period of last year.
Guangxi Danbaoli and Guangxi Yipinxian will launch their yeast production lines this October.
Tongliao CNE is expanding its corn-based solvent capacity to 100,000t/a.
