It is engaged in oil and gas exploration and production, refining of crude oil and marketing of petroleum products. Currently, the company holds 20% market share in India. The company owns and operates two coastal refineries, one at Mumbai, of 6.5 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) capacity; and the other in Visakhapatnam with a capacity of 8.3 MMTPA. HPCL also holds stake in Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited, with a capacity of 9 MMTPA, and owns and operates the largest lube refinery in India with a capacity of 335 thousand metric tons (TMT).
